New Leadership Solidifies Fiji’s Future: Six Permanent Secretaries Reappointed!

The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has announced the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries following a thorough recruitment process. PSC Chairperson Luke Rokovada stated that these individuals will continue to guide their respective ministries through the next phase of growth and development.

Rokovada emphasized that the decision to reappoint the six was based on their deep understanding of their ministries, demonstrated success, and forward-looking vision.

The reappointments include Pita Tagicakirewa as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts, serving until November 2025. Seema Sharma will continue as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025. Yogesh Karan has been reappointed for the role of Permanent Secretary of Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry until December 2025. Shaheen Ali will serve as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications through December 2025. Susan Kiran has been reappointed Secretary to Cabinet until June 2026 and will also take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information starting September 2, 2024. Dr. Raijeli Taga will remain as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources until her reassignment in October 2024.

Rokovada noted that all reappointed Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, highlighting Fiji’s growing talent pool and the Civil Service’s ability to attract and retain skilled professionals.
