New Leadership Shakeup: Ro Filipe Tuisawau Steps In as Deputy Leader

The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, following the removal of Lynda Tabuya from the position in March. Ms. Tabuya’s dismissal was associated with a complaint regarding her alleged involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug-related incident that occurred during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, the previous year.

On September 25, the party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, announced that the executive committee had approved Ro Filipe’s appointment during a meeting. Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and he also serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. Prior to this, he was the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the previous administration.
