The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, taking over from Lynda Tabuya, who was dismissed from the position in March. Tabuya’s ousting was reportedly connected to allegations of her involvement in an extramarital affair as well as a drug-related incident during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. On September 25th, the party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, announced that the executive committee had approved Tuisawau’s appointment during a meeting. Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services and serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously acted as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
