The People’s Alliance (PA) party has announced the appointment of Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from the position in March. Tabuya’s removal was associated with a complaint regarding her alleged involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal that occurred during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. Acting secretary Sila Balawa confirmed that the party’s executive committee approved Tuisawau’s appointment as deputy leader during its meeting on September 25. Ro Filipe holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and he also serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously acted as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
