New Leadership Shakeup in The People’s Alliance Party

The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from the position in March. Ms. Tabuya’s removal was associated with a complaint regarding her alleged involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year.

On Wednesday, September 25th, the party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that the executive committee approved Ro Filipe’s appointment as deputy leader during their meeting. Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and he is also the Leader of Government Business in Parliament.

He previously served as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the prior administration.
