The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, taking over from Lynda Tabuya, who was dismissed from the position in March. The decision to remove Ms. Tabuya was associated with allegations surrounding her involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal during a Government visit to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that Ro Filipe’s appointment as deputy leader received approval from the party’s executive committee during its meeting on September 25th.
Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services and serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He had previously occupied the role of Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the previous administration.
