The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as a new deputy leader, taking over the position from Lynda Tabuya, who was ousted in March. Tabuya’s removal was reportedly connected to a complaint regarding her alleged participation in an extramarital affair and a drug-related incident during a government visit to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, announced that the executive committee approved Tuisawau’s appointment during a meeting on September 25.
Ro Filipe is currently the Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, in addition to being the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously served as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
