The People’s Alliance (PA) party has named Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from the position in March. Tabuya’s dismissal was connected to a complaint regarding her alleged involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal that occurred during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, announced that Ro Filipe’s appointment was approved by the party’s executive committee during a meeting on September 25th.
Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services and is also the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously served as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
