New Leadership: Paula Cirikiyasawa Appointed Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources

The Public Service Commission, in collaboration with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, has appointed Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective September 30, 2024. Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who is transitioning to a new position after four years of committed service in her role.

Cirikiyasawa brings over 20 years of professional experience, having held various senior positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before joining UNDP. He has been with UNDP since 2018, leveraging his skills to support global development initiatives.

PSC Chairperson Luke Rokovada expressed enthusiasm for Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, citing his strong leadership, innovative approach, and strategic vision as key attributes that will benefit the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources. In his new position, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, with a focus on innovation, growth, and sustainability.

Cirikiyasawa holds a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science. Meanwhile, Dr. Taga will remain at the Ministry and begin her new role in mid-October 2024. Rokovada acknowledged Dr. Taga’s significant contributions to the Ministry, highlighting her role in driving major achievements during her leadership tenure.
