New Leadership on the Horizon: Who Will Replace Pita Wise?

Following the resignation of Pita Wise from his position as Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, Luke Rokovada, Chair of the Public Service Commission, announced that recommendations for his replacement have already been submitted.

Rokovada expressed hope that a decision regarding the new appointment will be made promptly, as the role needs to be filled urgently. He stated, “As far as Mr. Pita Wise’s replacement as Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s office, we’ve submitted a recommendation to the Prime Minister, and once that is finalized, we will make an announcement.”

Wise resigned on September 26th after serving as Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office since January of last year, and he had previously held the same position in the prior administration.

Rokovada also mentioned, “We hope that the decision will be forthcoming tomorrow so that the person can assume the role of acting Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office immediately.” However, it remains unclear who has been recommended for the position.
