New Leadership in Fiji’s Prime Minister’s Office: Who is Dr. Raijeli Taga?

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been appointed as the Permanent Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister. This announcement was made by Public Service Commission Chairperson Luke Rokovada. Currently, Dr. Taga is transitioning from her role as the Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources to facilitate the handover to the newly appointed Permanent Secretary for Lands, Paula Cirikiyasawa. In the meantime, Parmesh, the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, is acting as the interim Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister.

Rokovada mentioned that Dr. Taga is anticipated to begin her new role within the next two weeks. This follows the recent resignation of Pita Wise, who left his position last week for personal reasons. The Prime Minister confirmed he had received a complaint against Wise, which he referred to the Ministry of Civil Service.

Rabuka indicated that it is the responsibility of the complainant to take the matter to the Police, while his role was to submit the issue to the Ministry. When asked why the PSC is not referring Wise to the Police, Rokovada reiterated that it is the complainant’s choice to make that decision.
