New Leadership: Dr. Raijeli Taga Stepping into Acting Role at Prime Minister’s Office

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been appointed as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister. This appointment was confirmed by Luke Rokovada, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission.

Dr. Taga, who is transitioning from her position as the Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, is currently facilitating the handover process to the newly appointed Permanent Secretary for Lands, Paula Cirikiyasawa. Meanwhile, Parmesh Chand, the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, is serving as the acting Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister until Dr. Taga officially takes over in two weeks.

This change follows the immediate resignation of Pita Wise, who stepped down from his position last week for personal reasons. The Prime Minister had previously indicated that he received a complaint against Wise, which he referred to the Ministry of Civil Service.

Rabuka stated that it is the responsibility of the complainant to take the matter to the Police, emphasizing that his role was limited to forwarding the complaint to the Ministry of Civil Service. When asked why the Public Service Commission was not referring Wise to the Police, Rokovada reiterated that it is up to the complainant to make that decision.
