South Sea Towage Limited has officially signed three graduates from the Nadave Technical School as interns. The new interns, Nathan Campbell, Seveci Vakaloloma, and Saimoni Raikuna, are part of a larger initiative organized by the Center for Appropriate Technology and Development (CATD), which operates under the Ministry of I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts.
Aporosa Silatolu, Director of CATD Nadave, emphasized the significance of this event, highlighting the center’s role in facilitating meaningful employment not just for the three interns, but for the youth of Fiji as a whole. “The center aims to provide a platform of meaningful employment for many youths in Fiji, and we are very happy to have been able to sign three of our interns today. They are the first of many,” Silatolu stated.
Twenty-one-year-old Saimoni Raikuna, who graduated from Nadave Technical School a year ago, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity provided by both Nadave and South Sea Towage Limited. “I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity as I never imagined this ever happening. This is only the start of my career,” he said.
Raikuna urged other youths in Fiji to leverage their skills and talents to improve their circumstances, encouraging them not to view their educational backgrounds as obstacles to reaching their goals. “For my brothers and sisters listening, don’t see your educational background as a barrier in achieving your dreams,” he remarked.
The Nadave Technical School is committed to being part of various initiatives launched by the Ministry of I-Taukei Affairs aimed at generating employment opportunities for the youth in Fiji and addressing the rising unemployment rates.
