The new health center in Dago, Nananu, Tailevu, has been officially opened by the Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka, marking a significant milestone since its construction began in 2017. This project has received support from the New Zealand government, which contributed NZD 472,895 to enhance the facility and its services.
Approximately 8,000 residents from the Dawasamu, Namena, and Sawakasa areas in Vualiku and Tailevu are expected to benefit from the services provided at this health center. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of safeguarding the health and services provided to the community.
In addition, the opening of this health center is poised to improve medical care for students from Ratu Kadavulevu School and Queen Victoria School, along with other nearby educational institutions.
The Health Ministry and the New Zealand government have expressed a commitment to maintaining quality services for the Fijian population. Charlotte Darlow, representing the New Zealand government, urged the Fijian leadership to maximize the usage of the health center’s services, especially in light of the ongoing challenges posed by various health threats.
