New Health Centre with Birthing Unit and Mortuary Planned for Namosi Province to Fill Healthcare Service Gap

A health centre planned for the Namosi province is intended to address the current gap in healthcare services in the area. The facility is under discussion and is expected to include a birthing unit and a mortuary, according to the province’s public administrator, Laisenia Tui.

Tui confirmed that they have secured a 50-acre location for the health centre in Dada, a government station. The facility is anticipated to serve the residents of the four districts near Dada and save them the trouble of traveling to the distant Namuamua Health Centre, which involves boat trips on rivers.

Currently, residents either make the boat trip to Namuamua, located near Naqesa, Serua, or they journey all the way to Navua Hospital, resulting in high travel expenses. The government aims to address this issue by offering local access to health centres, Tui said.

In connection with Naqarawai Health Station, which has been unoccupied for nearly two years following a fire in 2022, Tui reported that efforts are being made to reconstruct the facility.
