OSEA Kolinisau, the head coach of the Fiji Airways men’s sevens team, has welcomed two players into the national training camp following the recent conclusion of the Fiji Bitter Kadavu 7s tournament. The players selected are George Bose from the BLK Lavidi Brothers and Alusio Vakadranu from Wardens Gold.
This marks Bose’s inaugural call-up to the national squad, while Vakadranu is returning after contributing to the team during last season’s HSBC Sevens World Series. The current training camp is now in its second week.
Kolinisau attended the tournament, held from the 17th to the 19th at the Namalata District School grounds, and expressed gratitude to Fiji Bitter for their unwavering support of the event and their significant role in nurturing grassroots rugby in the region. He acknowledged the challenges posed by unfavorable weather conditions during the tournament but remained optimistic about the talent showcased at the event.
The efforts to develop rugby at the grassroots level are vital for the future of the sport in Fiji, and Kolinisau’s actions demonstrate a commitment to fostering emerging talent.
Overall, the inclusion of new players highlights the ongoing investment in the team’s future and the importance of local tournaments in identifying potential national squad members.
