Timoci Duve has been officially appointed as the Head Coach of the Kaiviti Silktails for the upcoming 2025 Jersey Flegg Cup season in the New South Wales Rugby League. Duve, who has been serving as the caretaker coach since June, takes over the role following the departure of former coach Wes Naiqama, who stepped down after four successful years at the helm.
In addition to Duve’s appointment, Rusiate Ratukana, a former strength and conditioning coach and captain of the Fiji Residents rugby Sevens team during the South Pacific Games, will return as the assistant coach for the Silktails. The coaching team will also benefit from the expertise of Joe Saukuru, who will serve as a technical advisor and act as the coaching liaison between the Silktails and their new feeder club, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
This new leadership structure promises renewed energy and strategic insight for the Kaiviti Silktails, paving the way for an exciting 2025 season. With Duve’s experience and Ratukana’s familiarity with Fijian rugby, the team is positioned to harness their skills to enhance performance in the league.
Summary: Timoci Duve has been named Head Coach of the Kaiviti Silktails for the 2025 Jersey Flegg Cup, succeeding Wes Naiqama, while Rusiate Ratukana returns as assistant coach. Technical advisor Joe Saukuru will link the team to their feeder club, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
