Nancy Tikoisuva has been appointed as the Acting Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP). Ms. Tikoisuva received her formal appointment notification letter from President Ratu Willame Katonivere yesterday. She mentioned that the letter arrived around 3:30 p.m., following John Rabuku’s departure from the office on Wednesday.
“My appointment comes at a time when there have been significant changes in the leadership of the office,” Ms. Tikoisuva said. “Our focus is to maintain the momentum established in the office’s strategic directions, and I’m grateful that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) considered an internal appointment. I also have a supportive team backing me.”
No stranger to leadership, Ms. Tikoisuva previously served as the acting assistant director for DPP during Mr. Rabuku’s tenure. A prominent lawyer, she has worked with Toganivalu Legal law firm and held positions as an External Academic with the University of the South Pacific (USP) and as a consultant with the Food Agricultural Organisation (FAO). With over 18 years of experience, she graduated from USP in 2003 and earned her Masters in Law in 2022.
“I am the second local female, the third female in the history of the DPP’s office, and the first iTaukei female to hold this role,” she noted. Her message to her female colleagues was, “Don’t give up, don’t be discouraged by bureaucracy; let your work speak for itself.”
