New Deputy Leader Appointed Amid Controversy in People’s Alliance

The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from the position in March. Tabuya’s removal was associated with allegations of her involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug controversy during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that Ro Filipe’s appointment was approved by the party’s executive committee during its meeting on September 25. Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and is also the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He served as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 in the previous administration.
