New Classrooms on the Horizon for Vanua Levu Students by 2025

Up to 300 students currently attending classes in tents on Vanua Levu are expected to return to their new classrooms by the end of 2025, according to Assistant Education Minister Iliesa Vanawalu.

Vanawalu stated that funding has been allocated in the budget for the reconstruction of three schools that were impacted by cyclones. He mentioned that efforts are underway to finalize the remaining work for this year and into 2025.

In a recent interview, he confirmed that a feasibility study for the three schools has been completed. “The main focus of the ministry is to ensure that these schools have adequate and safe learning environments,” the minister explained.

While he could not provide a specific timeline for the completion of the reconstruction, Vanawalu expressed optimism that all children would be back in their own classrooms before the end of next year.
