Students at Namuka District School in Macuata are looking forward to a brighter future following the completion of three new classrooms funded by the Japanese government. The project, which cost $292,808, is designed to improve educational facilities in Namuka by replacing the old and deteriorating school buildings.
During a visit to the school and community, Japanese Ambassador to Fiji Michii Rokuichiro officially handed over the classroom blocks, part of the Grants of Grassroots Programme (GGP). Ambassador Rokuichiro emphasized the importance of education as a vital asset and highlighted the need for a supportive learning environment in Namuka, stating that this assistance lays the groundwork for societal advancement. He reminded students to take care of their new facilities.
Head of the school Tevita Masiwini noted that the new classrooms would foster a better learning atmosphere. Health Minister Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for its commitment to education. Masiwini added that the new furniture and facilities would uplift the students’ motivation and that the decline in student enrollment over recent years could improve thanks to the newly constructed classrooms.
