New Classrooms Illuminate Educational Future in Namuka District School

Students at Namuka District School in Macuata are set for a promising future with the recent inauguration of three new classrooms funded by the Japanese government. The project, costing $292,808, aims to improve educational facilities in Namuka by replacing the old, dilapidated school buildings.

Japanese Ambassador to Fiji, Michii Rokuichiro, visited the school and the Namuka community to officially hand over the classrooms, which were established through the Grants of Grassroots Programme (GGP).

During his visit, Mr. Rokuichiro emphasized the significance of education as a vital tool for societal advancement and urged the students to take good care of the new facilities. He expressed hope that the classrooms would inspire students to fully engage in their educational pursuits.

Tevita Masiwini, the head of the school, noted that the new classrooms would foster a better learning atmosphere for the students.

Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu, the Minister for Health and Medical Services, expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for its contributions to education during the handover ceremony.

Misiwini mentioned that the feelings of students being at a disadvantage in terms of infrastructure compared to urban schools are now alleviated. He added that the provision of new furniture would motivate students to stay focused on their studies and that the newly constructed classroom blocks could help increase enrollment numbers, which had seen a decline in recent years.
