New Classrooms Ignite Hope for Namuka District Students

Students at Namuka District School in Macuata can look forward to improved educational facilities with the recent handover of three new classrooms funded by the Japanese government. The project, which cost $292,808, aims to enhance the learning environment by replacing old, deteriorating buildings.

Japanese Ambassador to Fiji Michii Rokuichiro visited the school and community to officially hand over the classroom blocks as part of the Grants of Grassroots Programme (GGP). During his visit, he emphasized the importance of education as a key tool for societal improvement and encouraged students to take responsibility for the maintenance of the new facilities.

“This classroom can be used to motivate you to make the most of your academic journey,” Mr. Rokuichiro said.

School head Tevita Masiwini noted that the upgraded learning environment would significantly benefit the students. The Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu, also expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for its commitment to educational support.

Misiwini highlighted that the new chairs and tables would foster motivation among students. He expressed optimism that the addition of the new classroom blocks could help reverse the decline in student enrollment experienced in recent years.
