New Beginnings: Seaqaqa Set for Major Market Revamp!

Plans are underway for a new market and bus terminal in Seaqaqa, according to Samuela Ligairi, the special administrator of the Labasa Town Council. Ligairi mentioned that he has reviewed the architectural designs for the proposed facilities, which aim to serve a large number of people.

While he could not disclose further details, vendor Losalini Raua expressed that there have been ongoing requests for a new market in the upcoming financial year. She noted that the current market has not undergone any renovations over the years despite multiple appeals to former governments.

Raua highlighted the severe condition of their existing trading space, which is often unable to withstand even minor weather changes. One critical issue she pointed out is the leaking roofs that allow rainwater to seep in during heavy rains, damaging goods and hindering business operations. Currently, many sections of the market have makeshift tarpaulin patches to address the leaks, and some roofs are completely missing.
