Newly appointed Assistant Minister for Justice, Josaia Niudamu, has committed to supporting Minister Siromi Turaga in advancing the governmental frameworks during the remaining term of the Coalition Government, as they prepare for the upcoming election next year. After his swearing-in ceremony at the State House, Mr. Niudamu expressed his eagerness to serve the Fijian populace and uphold justice for those in need.

“I feel good, and I would like to thank the honorable Prime Minister for trust in my capabilities,” Mr. Niudamu stated regarding his new role. He emphasized his determination to serve the nation and ensure the continuation of government policies while aiding Minister Turaga in upcoming initiatives for the ministry.

As a law graduate from the University of the South Pacific, Mr. Niudamu brings over a decade of legal expertise from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution before establishing his own firm, Niudamu Lawyers. Transitioning from the FijiFirst party last year, he aligned with Prime Minister Turaga and a coalition known as the Group of 9 (G9), signaling his active participation in the current political landscape.

When queried about his future political ambitions, he hinted that he may consider running in the upcoming elections, asserting that the decision would depend on timing. Mr. Niudamu reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing services for the people of Fiji, encouraging public support: “I pray that they keep supporting the Government in providing better services to the country.”

Parallel to Mr. Niudamu’s appointment, Minister Siromi Turaga has been vocal about The People’s Alliance’s dedication to serving the community, striving to ensure justice and accountability. Their shared vision indicates a focused effort toward transparency and improving governance, offering a hopeful outlook for the future of Fijian political engagement.

In a broader context, the actions and commitments of both Mr. Niudamu and Minister Turaga reflect a proactive approach to fostering public trust and enhancing the accountability of government services. This collective focus could herald a new era of responsive governance in Fiji, centered on the well-being and needs of its citizens.
