The FinanceHub Super League aims to facilitate two key objectives for Netball Fiji and its related districts: expanding the player base and enhancing the skills of officials. For this year, Netball Fiji has assigned hosting duties of the Super League matches to six of its major districts: Suva, Lautoka, Nasinu, Nadroga, Nadi, and Tailevu.
Netball Fiji plays a role only when the national under-21 and Baby Pearls teams, which participate in the league with two teams, are hosting their games. Additionally, they participate in talent scouting at these games. Aside from these tasks, all hosting responsibilities, which could contribute to skill development, lie with the districts.
Netball Fiji’s CEO, Vivia Koster, explained that Allocated tasks involve umpire management, medical staffing, court set-up, and community involvement, among others. This system helps the districts improve their own game and provides Netball Fiji with a pool of resources when it comes to hosting international matches.
The established method promotes closer relationships and collaborations among districts. Koster added that integrating their usual club competition with the super league match where possible is another strategic decision made by the districts. This approach aids in the growth of both the districts and their players, subsequently strengthening the teams.
The second round of matches will start on Friday at FMF Gymnasium, Suva. Following that, games are scheduled for Saturday at various locations.
