Netball Fiji president RubyAnn Sorovaki emphasizes the urgency of enhancing local netball competitions this year. In discussing potential improvements for the sport, Sorovaki highlighted that bolstering tournaments across the nation would provide a wider pool for selecting players for the national team.
“To elevate our high-performance teams, we need to intensify our competitions,” Sorovaki stated. She underlined the importance of maintaining clear pathways from club-level play to national representation, ensuring that quality games are offered that enable broader player selection at all levels.
Sorovaki also noted that grassroots development is pivotal, and indicated that the federation would continue to collaborate closely with all stakeholders involved in the sport. “Our focus remains on assisting our districts in running games and enhancing the capacity of our members,” she added.
In related news, the Fiji Pearls’ extended squad will regroup for fitness testing today at the High-Performance Unit Gym in Laucala, starting at 8:30 AM. The squad features 56 players who will be under the guidance of interim head coach Jioweli Vakamoce.
