The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad stated that this launch marks the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and establishing a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
Mr. Prasad emphasized that Fiji has the potential to achieve substantial wealth over the next 25 to 30 years, but this can only be realized by moving away from the status quo. He highlighted the importance of political stability, consistent policies, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable approach in achieving these goals.
The Ministry of Finance is leading the development of the NDP, which will build on the results from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and outcomes from the Education Summit. Mr. Prasad expressed the Government’s confidence in establishing a political culture of leadership that allows for peaceful and transparent transitions between governments.
