The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be inaugurated next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presiding over the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad stated that the launch marks the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
Prasad emphasized the country’s potential to achieve significant wealth within the next 25 to 30 years, asserting that this goal cannot be realized without significant changes in approach. He highlighted the importance of political stability, consistent policy implementation, and a governance framework that is consultative, transparent, and accountable.
The Ministry of Finance is leading the NDP initiative, which is expected to build upon the results from the recent Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the Education Summit. Prasad expressed confidence that the government will establish a lasting legacy, facilitating a political culture that allows for peaceful and accountable transitions of power between different government groups.
