The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, an event that will be officiated by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad emphasized that this launch marks the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.

“Our National Development Plan will be launched on Tuesday by the Prime Minister,” Mr. Prasad stated. He highlighted the country’s potential to attain wealth within the next 25 to 30 years but noted that this can only be achieved through a departure from the status quo. He stressed the importance of political stability, consistent policies, and a transparent and accountable governance approach.

The Ministry of Finance is leading the development of the NDP, which will expand on insights gained from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and outcomes from the Education Summit. Mr. Prasad expressed confidence that the government would establish a legacy of a political culture that ensures peaceful and accountable transfers of power, regardless of its time in office.
