The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills as they prepare for the upcoming Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. This statement follows the team’s impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday, as shared by head coach Inoke Vucago in an interview.
Vucago expressed the team’s determination to improve upon their previous quarterfinal loss last year, emphasizing their hunger to advance further this season. He noted that the focus remains on taking it one game at a time, as the players have been well-prepared leading up to the quarterfinal.
At halftime, with the team leading 17-0, Vucago encouraged the players to continue piling on the points. He highlighted that most of the team members have been competing in the Marama Championship with under-20 clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has equipped them for 40-minute rugby matches.
Looking ahead to the semi-final, Vucago acknowledged that the players must deliver an even stronger performance. He expressed pride in their hard work and commitment to executing 80 percent of their game plan, noting their eagerness for victory.
The coach dedicated the team’s success to the parents, teachers, and fellow students of Natabua High School. Vucago highlighted the team’s strength, pointing out the dominance of their forwards while also recognizing the effectiveness of their balanced backline.
