The Police women’s touch rugby team showcased their determination and skill with a narrow 4-3 victory against their rivals from Delainabua at the Buckhurst Park grounds in Laucala Bay, Suva, yesterday. Both teams displayed strong enthusiasm and hunger for the win, but it was the team from Nasova that ultimately triumphed.

Team manager Mere Taleitaki Luvu expressed her appreciation for the victory while recognizing the strengths of the opposing side. “It was not a very good challenge for us against Army and they have shown improvement this year as well,” Luvu remarked.

The team’s success is attributed to their thorough preparation and coaching leading up to the competition. Luvu noted that the dedication and training of the players had been consistent, contributing to their competitive edge.

Despite the thrill of their own win, Luvu emphasized the importance of unity between the two forces and expressed hopes for a celebration alongside their military counterparts. This spirit of camaraderie was evident throughout the week-long competition.

In addition to the women’s match, the touch rugby tournament had other notable results, with Army overcoming Police 3-2 in the men’s category, while Police secured a 4-3 victory against Army in the mixed category.

This event highlights not only the competitive nature of sports but also the camaraderie and mutual respect shared among players, fostering a positive and community-oriented atmosphere in the sporting world.

In summary, the Police women’s touch rugby team’s victory not only showcases their skill but also underscores the essence of teamwork and collaboration in sports, promising an exciting future for touch rugby in the region.
