The Police women’s touch rugby team triumphed in a tightly contested match, narrowly defeating their rivals 4-3 at Buckhurst Park in Laucala Bay, Suva, yesterday. Both teams displayed a strong desire to win, but ultimately, the victory went to the women from Nasova.
Mere Taleitaki Luvu, the team manager, expressed her appreciation for the victory while also recognizing the strength and determination of the Delainabua team. “It was a tough challenge against Army, and we’ve seen their improvement this year,” Luvu remarked.
In preparing for the competition, Luvu noted the team’s readiness, facilitated by dedicated coaching staff, which contributed to their successful performance against the Delainabua women. While this win brought immense joy to the team, Luvu highlighted the importance of camaraderie, indicating that they would celebrate their achievement alongside their military counterparts, emphasizing the bonds formed during the week-long competition.
Luvu dedicated the victory to the families, friends, and supporters of the team. In other competition highlights, the Army took a win over the Police in the men’s division with a score of 3-2, while the Police secured a 4-3 victory over the Army in the mixed category.
