“Namosi Highlands Set to Challenge Runners in Fiji”

The Namosi Highlands are gearing up to host Fiji’s most challenging race, with an anticipated 300 participants on September 7. The event will feature a Half Marathon, a 10 km race, and a Team Marathon, offering trail running enthusiasts a chance to test their abilities while enjoying Fiji’s picturesque landscapes.

During the official launch at the Mana Coffee outlet in Suva, race organizers invited both locals and visitors to join the charity event. Beth Sargent, President of the Suva Marathon Club, noted that the Namosi Challenge has been organized over the past four years to highlight Fiji’s breathtaking scenery and provide participants with a demanding experience in the Namosi hills.

Sargent also mentioned that the event works in partnership with the local community, with proceeds benefiting charity partners such as Namosi Secondary School and the Namosi Rugby League teams. This year’s race will heavily rely on the local knowledge of Namosi communities, with village representatives and local operators assisting competitors in navigating the rugged terrain.

Fijian trail runner Amit Ahalawat described the Namosi trail as both incredibly beautiful and exceptionally challenging. “Each step through the lush Namosi forest, along its winding river, and over the rugged hills brings you closer to discovering the strength within you and the stunning beauty around,” Ahalawat stated.
