Naiqama’s Emotional Return to Fiji Bati: What to Expect Tonight

Kevin Naiqama will be representing the Vodafone Fiji Bati in their opening NRL Pacific Championship match against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls tonight at HFC Bank Stadium.

Naiqama participated in the captain’s run at the stadium yesterday as the team completed their preparations following a week of training at Albert Park and various community engagements. With a wealth of experience, having played for the national team since 2009, he expressed his excitement about playing in Fiji for the first time.

“There’s a lot of feelings and emotions that are riding on it, but ultimately we have a job to do,” Naiqama stated. He emphasized the significance of the forthcoming match, highlighting that it’s been many years since the team last played a Test match and that being back in camp is always a great honor.

Naiqama mentioned that the team’s officials have made sure that they are fully prepared, and he assured that the players will leave no stone unturned when they take the field.

“It’s defending your nation at all costs, representing our people, and making our families and friends proud. That has been the driving force behind this and behind this jersey,” he said.

He is also the younger brother of Wes Naiqama, who played for the Fiji Bati from 2006 to 2014.
