Pacific Specialist Healthcare’s birthing facility in Nadi is celebrating a remarkable success rate for its patients. The hospital encourages expecting parents to explore the positive reviews and testimonials shared on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, showcasing the satisfaction of new mothers and fathers celebrating the arrival of their newborns.
Led by Dr. Tui Taoi, one of Fiji’s top obstetricians and gynecologists, the PSH Obstetrics and Gynecology facility takes pride in having an all-female birthing team, which consists of nurses and nursing assistants, ensuring complete privacy for expectant mothers.
Parvish Kumar, the director and Chief Executive Officer of PSH, stated that this all-female staff has received positive feedback from many expectant mothers and their partners. “These mothers thank us for doing this,” Mr. Kumar remarked. After childbirth, mothers are catered to in private rooms equipped with amenities such as televisions, lounge suites, and facilities for preparing beverages, designed to resemble a five-star hotel experience. Additionally, fathers are encouraged to stay with their partners during their hospital stay.
Mr. Kumar expressed satisfaction with the decision to keep the Nadi branch of PSH Hospitals open 24 hours a day, implemented two weeks ago, noting an increasing number of patients requiring urgent medical attention at night. Recently, they treated many patients from the airport suffering from conditions like asthma, food poisoning, fever, and sudden abdominal pains.
The hospital’s affordable consultancy fee of $11.50 makes healthcare accessible to the public. PSH is also exploring options to provide some services free of charge in collaboration with foreign companies.
The core mission of PSH Hospitals is to enhance healthcare services, promote universal health coverage, and address societal challenges related to healthcare access, according to Mr. Kumar. “There are countless patients for whom we have made all services free of charge,” he added. By alleviating pressure from the public health system, PSH Hospitals aims to offer advanced treatment options and is committed to making their services more affordable, even free, for those in need.
“PSH Hospitals is a different breed of hospital; come talk to us and you will realize that empathy is at the heart of PSH Hospitals,” he noted. Patients visiting general practitioners pay only $11.50, regardless of the time of day, whether during regular hours or in emergencies. “Our medical procedures are offered at unbeatable rates, with a wide range of procedures available to all, including those who may not be able to pay the full amount upfront,” Mr. Kumar explained. Instalment plans are also available for major procedures, provided that patients adhere to the financial agreements.
