Asma Fareha Khan has taken a significant step in her entrepreneurial journey by investing in a retail store after successfully managing her online business for the past two years. She has opened the Asma Fashion Closet showroom, conveniently located on the main street of Nadi Town.
Khan, who hails from Punjab, India, possesses a wealth of knowledge in fashion, including product ranges and quality. She is married to Manuawar Khan, a recognized information technology professional based in Nadi. Expressing her passion, Ms. Khan stated, “It has been our dream to venture into this business.” She emphasized that the store’s modern setup is designed to create a cozy and comfortable shopping experience, aiming to make customers feel as if they are browsing through a closet.
The showroom offers a variety of unique and stylish women’s fashion items, including clothing, footwear, jewelry, luxury clutches, handbags, hijabs, and other accessories.
Potential for growth is seen in the Fijian market, particularly in Indian ethnic and Indo-western clothing and accessories. Mr. Khan remarked on the competitive nature of retail in Fiji while committing to introduce high-quality and unique products that are not commonly available. Although there are no local manufacturing facilities, some of their offerings are customized to differentiate them in the market.
So far, the Khans have invested approximately $60,000 in establishing and stocking their showroom and currently employ two staff members. Looking ahead, they plan to expand their business by opening additional showrooms in the western division of Fiji.
