Nadi on cusp of Fiji FACT berth as Nadroga chase must-win against Suva

Scenic Fiji soccer field with lush mountains and palm trees in the background.

The fight for the final spot in the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT will be settled this weekend as Tagimoucia Nadi FC and MMM Brothers & Coastal Rental Cars Nadroga go head-to-head in Round Nine of the Extra Premier League. Nadi sit eighth on the table with seven points, while Nadroga occupy ninth with five, meaning the Jetsetters hold the upper hand heading into a decisive set of fixtures.

Nadi need only a draw against Lautoka to clinch qualification for the FACT in Labasa; a victory would guarantee their place outright. Even a loss could still see Nadi through, depending on Nadroga’s result against Global Care Suva FC, making the Lautoka match a must-watch for both clubs. Nadi enter the weekend with a superior goal difference of minus four, compared with Nadroga’s minus 10, a margin that could prove decisive if the sides finish level on points.

For Nadroga the path is narrow and straightforward: defeat Suva and hope Lautoka can upset Nadi. Given the nine-goal swing in goal difference, the Stallions would likely require a convincing victory and favourable results elsewhere to overturn Nadi’s advantage. Coach and player decisions this weekend will therefore be crucial as Nadroga chase an improbable but still possible route into the season’s first major tournament.

Seven other clubs have already confirmed their spots in the BiC Fiji FACT: Dayal’s Sawmillers Ba FC, Extra Supermarket Labasa FC, Global Care Suva FC, Stratum Rewa FC, Lautoka, Navua and Nasinu. The tournament’s group matches will be held in Labasa from June 19-21, with the knockout stages scheduled for June 27-28 at Subrail Park — dates organisers released ahead of the league’s final rounds.

The immediate slate of matches sets up the finale. Tomorrow Labasa take on Tailevu Naitasiri at Subrail Park (2pm). Sunday’s programme kicks off at 3pm across several venues: Nadi host Lautoka at Prince Charles Park, Nadroga meet Suva at Lawaqa Park, Navua play Nasinu, and Ba face Rewa at 4R Stadium. Lautoka’s result at Prince Charles Park is therefore pivotal not only for their own league ambitions but also for Nadroga’s slim hopes.

With just one weekend remaining before the FACT line-up is complete, the Extra Premier League’s closing round carries outsized consequences. Goal difference looms as a potential tie-breaker, so any swing in scorelines will be examined closely when the final table is confirmed and the eight teams for Labasa are locked in.
