The Nadi Football Association is seeking approximately $17,000 to prepare for the upcoming 2024 FMF Inter-District Championship, set to take place at Churchill Park in Lautoka next week. Executive Lawrence Kumar shared this information during a fundraiser at Sylvia Hall in Malolo, Nadi, last Saturday, which attracted a significant turnout of fans.
Kumar described the event as a resounding success, emphasizing the need for additional sponsors to help the association reach its financial goal. “We require $17,000 for the campaign, and we aim to end the 22-year winless drought at the IDC,” he stated. The team performed well in the recent B.O.G tournament but fell short in the final, yet the team’s spirits remain high as they strive to secure victory in the upcoming tournament.
Nadi FA president Mohin Rafiq mentioned that former Fiji Under-20 captain Abdulla Aiyaz has integrated well into the team since his arrival last week. Aiyaz, who is based in Sydney, is expected to partner with skilled striker Ali Naseri, whose travel documents are currently being processed. Rafiq expressed gratitude for the arrival of head coach Raj Dayal, noting that the team has progressed from one training session to two this week.
In a recent friendly match on Sunday, the Green Machine drew 1-1 with Navua at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, providing a great opportunity for local fans to show their support.
