The Nadi Football Association is in need of approximately $17,000 to prepare their team for the 2024 FMF Inter-District Championship, scheduled to take place at Churchill Park in Lautoka next week. Lawrence Kumar, an executive member of the Nadi FA board, announced this during a fundraiser held at Sylvia Hall in Malolo, Nadi, last Saturday, which saw a large turnout of supporters.

Kumar expressed that the event was a significant success, highlighting the enthusiastic participation of fans. He emphasized that the association requires the funding to support their campaign and stressed the need for additional sponsors as they aim to break a 22-year winless streak at the IDC.

Despite falling short in the final at the B.O.G tournament, Kumar noted that team morale remains high, with a strong focus on securing the championship in the next competition. Nadi FA president Mohin Rafiq commented on the recent addition of former Fiji Under-20 captain Abdulla Aiyaz, who has integrated well into the team since joining last week. Aiyaz, based in Sydney, is expected to work closely with talented striker Ali Naseri, whose travel documents are currently being processed.

Rafiq expressed his gratitude for the presence of head coach Raj Dayal, noting that the team has transitioned from one training session to two this week. On Sunday, Nadi’s Green Machine played a friendly match against Navua, which ended in a 1-1 draw at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, providing fans with a wonderful opportunity to come out in support of the team.

In other news, ticket prices for the upcoming IDC matches have been set at accessible rates for fans of all ages. Grandstand tickets will cost $30 for adults and $15 for children under 10. Pavilion B tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for children under 10. For those in the Drua stands, tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for children under 10, while embankment tickets are available for $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10.
