The Nabau Brothers under 18-21 team from Nakorotubu, Ra, has demonstrated remarkable determination as they prepared for the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s Carnival. After three weeks of rigorous training, the team made their debut in the Wairiki tournament, facing off against Village Boys Black, where they narrowly lost 10-12.

Coach Peni Radau detailed their journey, highlighting that the Wairiki tournament was not only a significant milestone for the team but also a first-time experience for many players who had never set foot on Taveuni. He emphasized that the team had two main objectives: to compete in the tournament and to explore the beauty of the island, allowing them to witness firsthand a place they had only heard about.

Despite facing financial hurdles prior to the tournament, the team’s perseverance and the support from their community made their participation possible. Radau expressed his gratitude towards the vanua, supporters, families, and fans, acknowledging their crucial role in the team’s journey to Wairiki.

In summary, the Nabau Brothers team embraced a valuable opportunity for growth, both on and off the field, as they faced challenges with resilience and determination. Their experience in Taveuni serves as a reminder of the power of community support and the significance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone to embrace new adventures. This journey, coupled with their competitive spirit, sets a hopeful tone for the team’s future endeavors.
