The Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo, has announced that there has been minimal progress in the plan to transform Nabouwalu into a town, an initiative that originally started in 1976. Despite the lengthy timeline, Vosarogo expressed frustration that no significant advancements have taken place over the last 40 years.
Jale Sigarara, the chairperson of the Nabouwalu Town taskforce committee, responded by stating that the government has been slow to release adequate funding for the project, which he claims has resulted in delays. He noted that only partial funds have been allocated thus far, hindering the progress of the town development initiative.
Additionally, Sigarara highlighted issues regarding the transfer of the development lease to the committee, which has further stalled the project. He emphasized that without the necessary authority or resources, it is unclear when development and construction will commence.
Despite these challenges, Sigarara remains optimistic that the vision for Nabouwalu as a town will materialize in the near future.
