A mysterious vessel docked at Lautoka wharf has captured public interest as it awaits dry docking. The maritime vessel, named Yavirau, has local ties, notably with businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have acquired the vessel on behalf of a Fijian chief residing overseas.
Although the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is unaware of its ownership or future plans, sources indicate that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The ship, which flies a Mongolian flag, is currently undergoing maintenance after arriving in Lautoka a few days ago.
