A mysterious ship docked at Lautoka wharf has captured public interest as it prepares for dry docking. The maritime vessel, known as Yavirau, has ties to several local figures, including well-known businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have acquired the ship for a Fijian chief living overseas.
Although the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is unaware of the vessel’s ownership or intended use, investigations by SunBiz have revealed that the Yavirau belongs to Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The vessel, which flies a Mongolian flag, is currently undergoing maintenance after arriving in Lautoka a few days ago.
