A mysterious vessel docked at Lautoka wharf has caught the attention of the public while it awaits dry docking. The maritime vessel, Yavirau, is said to have several local connections, including prominent businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have acquired the vessel for a Fijian chief residing abroad.
Despite the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji being unaware of the ownership or future plans for the vessel, sources indicate that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The ship, which flies a Mongolian flag, is currently undergoing maintenance after arriving in Lautoka a few days ago.
