The much-anticipated launch of the COMO Laucala Island hangar at Nadi International Airport took place yesterday under mysterious circumstances, as the event was held privately and closed to the public. Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica stated that only the Government’s Information arm was granted access to the event, which he described as a significant step towards fostering a positive business environment.
The multi-million dollar project, which required five years to complete, faced multiple setbacks, including several Stop Order notices during the Bainimarama administration. Kamikamica pointed out that the previous government had halted the project until it received the green light from Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
Laucala Island is known as a luxurious destination for affluent travelers and contributes approximately $3 million in foreign exchange to Fiji each month. COMO Laucala Island, recognized as one of the largest private retreats in the world, boasts a private lounge at the Nadi International Airport.
