Traffic investigators are seeking help from the public to identify the victim of a tragic road accident that occurred in the Southern Division early in the morning on the 1st of this month.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana reported that the victim, a man believed to be in his late 20s, was found lying in the middle of Queens Road near Talenaua, Navua. He was struck by a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old man around 1 a.m. The severely injured victim was quickly taken to Navua Hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
SSP Divuana confirmed that the investigation is ongoing; however, the man’s identity is still unknown. Described as an i-taukei male, authorities have released images of his clothing and a distinct tattoo on his left arm, hoping that someone might recognize him and provide information.
The public is encouraged to contact the Traffic Investigation Unit at 9905 633 if they have any leads that could assist in solving this heartbreaking case. As the investigation progresses, police remain hopeful that community involvement will help bring closure to this unfortunate incident.
