A mysterious vessel docked at Lautoka wharf is attracting public interest as it prepares for dry docking. The maritime vessel, Yavirau, is linked to several local figures, including prominent businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have acquired the ship for a Fijian chief residing overseas.
Though the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is unaware of the vessel’s ownership or future plans, investigations by SunBiz have confirmed that Yavirau belongs to Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The vessel, which flies a Mongolian flag, is currently receiving maintenance after arriving in Lautoka a few days ago.
