A mysterious ship docked at Lautoka wharf has captured the public’s interest as it prepares for dry docking. The maritime vessel, known as Yavirau, has drawn several local connections, including prominent businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have bought the ship for a Fijian chief residing overseas.
Although the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is not aware of the vessel’s ownership or intended plans, sources indicate that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The vessel, which flies the Mongolian flag, has recently arrived in Lautoka and is currently undergoing maintenance.
