Mysterious Request for Review of Namosi Development Company Shares

The chief of Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, is seeking forgiveness from the people of Namosi for the lack of clear communication regarding the province’s company.

The provincial company, known as Namosi Development Company Ltd (NDCL), was established in 1994 and has been operating for 30 years.

The company’s founding plan was for it to be owned by the province. However, this has not been the case, as only a few individuals are shareholders.

This issue was raised at the Namosi Provincial Council Meeting held at the Pearl Resort, Pacific Harbour, on Thursday this week.

Minister for Infrastructure and a council member, Maciu Katamotu, questioned how the company was being managed.

Katamotu’s query reflected the concerns of the province’s residents about the current situation.

“We want the company to thrive and generate income. The people deserve to know if there will be a restructure of the company to ensure it belongs to the province and to provide assurance about its management,” he said.

“I hope an urgent meeting will be called to discuss these issues because the people are concerned and have many questions.”

Ratu Suliano revealed that for the past 20 years, he had been trying to establish a committee or think tank to oversee the company’s operations. This was finally achieved last week, and they will now manage the company’s operations.

While he was incarcerated in Naboro for two years, he continued to plan for the provincial company.

He stated that four shareholders originally involved in the company have passed away, leaving him as the sole surviving shareholder.

“A meeting will be called where an auditor will present the company’s financial plans to the people,” he added.
